The cellist Lynn Harrell came to our shop to have us work on his Montagnana cello. He needed a new bridge and sound post. He played the cello and said his instrument had never sounded that good…ever, and he had played on this instrument his whole career. He was so convinced that he had me fly to L.A. and cut a sound post on his modern cello. I told him that someday I would copy his Montagnana, so I worked with UNM to have it scanned for a future cello making project.
